This historical analysis and critical appraisal details patients’ biopsychosocialspiritual experiences with cannabis consumption during pregnancy. Specifically, what motivations patients have for consuming cannabis, and how (1) cannabis prohibition; and (2) the medicalization of birth have impacted how clinicians discuss cannabis consumption thus influencing patients’ healthcare decisions.
