Wednesday, September 02, 2020

Kristy Wang, School of Public Affairs & Civic Engagement (PACE) Applied Housing Research Initiative practitioner-in-residence (Spring 2019 and Spring 2020) was recognized as the 2020 Urban Studies & Planning (USP) Excellence in Community Service awardee.

Wang demonstrates the best of community engagement in community planning and housing. She is a longtime contributor to PACE’s housing policy curriculum at SF State, having organized numerous student field trips to affordable housing properties in San Francisco, developed case study materials for USP’s graduate housing policy course and co-taught a new course in Affordable Housing Development in California with Professor Ayse Pamuk, who directs the PACE Applied Housing Research Initiative. In this course, she reached out and invited numerous housing practitioners in the Bay Area to class as guest speakers. Her dedication to engage and mentor women and people of color is exemplary in our efforts in diversifying the housing industry.

Wang's participation was made possible by generous funding from the Merritt Community Capital Corporation.
