Associate Professor of Counseling Tiffany O’Shaughnessy began her three-year term as the leader of the Association for Women in Psychology (AWP) on March 8. Founded in 1969, AWP is a diverse national feminist community of psychologists and allied professionals invested in the integration of personal, professional and political power in the service of social justice. The organization’s vision states, “We are committed to a just and inclusive world without sexism and oppression, one that supports the psychological development and well-being of all people.”
Assistant Professor of Health Education David Rebanal is a new faculty scholar at SF State’s Health Equity Institute. The institute’s Faculty Scholar Program supports SF State faculty members pursuing external funding for health equity scholarship, professional activities and other products. Rebanal’s overall research objectives focus on building evidence for policies focused on the social determinants of racial health inequities, and his current research examines the roles of neighborhood features including racial residential segregation and immigrant political participation on mental health.
